God's Comforts for our Anxieties

“In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul” (Psalm 94:10).

Dear Praying Friends:

We all have a lot of potential anxieties. We could worry and be afraid about our health, finances, family, work, future – and much more! Sometimes, we harbor a whole host of anxieties within our troubled hearts and restless minds.

In the midst of these, however, we can actually find not only comfort from God, but also a kind of delight.

What are these comforts (or, consolations)? They include:

His presence: “I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 28:20).

His power: We can be “strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might ,for all endurance and patience” (Colossians 1:11; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Ephesians 1:19).

His pardon: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” (1 John 1:9; see Ephesians 1:7; Psalm 103:3; Isaiah 40:2).

His providential care of us: “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

His purpose for us: “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him” (Ephesians 1:4; Romans 8:29-30).

These and other truths have brought me substantial encouragement recently.
