September 30, 2024: God is our Shield

Weekly Prayer Update

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh [that is, humans] do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4; 10-11).

“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5).

Dear Praying Friends:

Once again, David is in deep trouble, in the hands of deadly enemies, with no one to help him. And, as always, he cries out to God in faith, trusting in the LORD, Yahweh, the covenant God of Israel, to save him from danger and death.

Like all the Psalms, this one points to Christ, who suffered from his enemies even more than David did, and continued to trust in his Father.

The two passages quoted above spoke directly to me today. Like David, I am wrestling with fear.

To combat these fears, I am reminding myself of the sure words of God, such as: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; surely, I will help you; surely, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10 NASV). And, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy” (Colossians 1:11).

Yours in his strength,
Wright
