Strength for Today - May 12, 2025
“The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped . . . The LORD is their strength” (Psalm 28:7a, 8a).
Dear Praying Friends:
Do you feel weak today? I do.
We can be weak in many ways: physically, emotionally, intellectually, financially, relationally, spiritually (that is, weak in faith).
We all experience weakness at some point. Some do chronically.
Today’s psalms directly address our need by reminding us that God is our strength. If we trust in him and rely on his power, he will supply all our needs and enable us to fulfill his will for us each day.
So, we can pray for each other, that we would be “strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience” (Colossians 1:11); know “the exceeding greatness of his [resurrection] power toward us who believe” (Ephesians 1:19); and “be strong in the LORD, and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).
Thank you for praying last week. James reports that his sermon went well and that several students had been encouraged by his words. God helped me to make progress on the story about Samuel Wells Williams and notes on Hebrews 6, and to write a monthly prayer letter and a thank-you letter for our donors.
I continue to hear from people whom I saw in Taiwan, including former seminary students.
Also, the former member of our group in Charlottesville who had invited me to speak in his church wrote, “Your preaching indeed encouraged many people in our congregation. Even last Sunday, a sister told me that your sermon touched her. She is very young and experienced a valley of death due to illness a few years ago.”
“The LORD will strengthen His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace” (Psalm 29:11).
Yours in his power and peace,
Wright
