The LORD Reigns!
June 9, 2025
“For the LORD is a great God, and the great King above all gods” (Psalm 95:3).
“Say among the nations,'The LORD reigns'” (Psalm 96:10).
“The LORD reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of the isles [or, coastlands] be glad” (Psalm 97:1).
Dear Praying Friends:
When the Scripture repeats something, we must take notice. Three times in three consecutive psalms we read that God is King; he rules and reigns over heaven and earth. He is supremely and uniquely great (Psalm 95:3; 96:4).
Not only so, but this King combines greatness with goodness.
He saves his people, the ones he has chosen to be his own (Psalm 95:1, 7). He will judge the peoples of the world righteously (Psalm 96:10, 13; 97:6).
Like all the psalms, these three point to Christ, especially now as exalted Lord (Ephesians 1:19-23; 1 Peter 3:22).
So, let us remember that Christ reigns over the nations, including our own; our family; our finances; our health; our work; our home; our friends; our church; our future. And let us, therefore, “Rejoice in the Lord always!” (Philippians 4:4; Psalm 95:1-2; 96:11-12; 97:1, 8, 12).
“Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous” (Psalm 97:12).
Yours in his care,
Wright
