The Main Thing
The main thing that impressed me at the wedding yesterday was not the number of guests (500) or bridesmaids (11); nor the stunning setting, under giant oak tress on the grassy river bank below the big ranch house; nor the river itself, which flowed by swiftly but with silken gentleness; nor the loveliness of my wife and daughter, or even the beauty of the bride (and of her mother).
No, the main thing for me was the repeated testimony of friends and family that the wedding couple had conducted their long courtship in a godly manner, followed by their own statement during the reception that they desired most of all to live together for the glory of God.
Maybe I should say that the Main Thing was the Main Guest, who everywhere displayed His own splendor and love.
